Day 4 - tuesday, march 8th

Day 4, 8th of March

We all woke up early in the morning to get ready for a new day. We met in front of the school at 8:10 with the teachers and got picked up by a bus that drove us to Abbazia Benedettia. 08:30 we left for Mogliano Veneto that is a Catholic Church and we here we arrived at 9.30.
One of the teachers of the school that was our translater for the day was waiting for us there. We were also met by five munks and nuns whose job was to inform us about the catholic faith and the Italian church. The name of our kind guide was Don Elios Franzis.

We spent the rest of the day in beautiful Treviso. We ate lunch i smaller groups before we met our new guide, who told us about the history of the city. We walked around the city for a couple of hours, but sadly, it was raining and really cold. At 4 pm we headed back to Padua and went home with our italian friends. In the evening, we were all invited to a party at Catatina’s place. Even though everbody was tired after a long day visiting cities, everybody seemed to have a lot of fun

wednesday, march 9th

Buongiorno!

After a fun night at catalina’s many of us were tired when we arrived at the station at 8pm wednesday. Yet, we were all excited to visit venice and have the whole day off. Furthermore, Freja turned 18 so we all celebrated her. We started our day in Venice at the St Mark’s Square, where we saw the famous cathedral church, Saint Mark's Basilica.
In venice many of us went to see the Guggenheim museum, which was beautiful because of the many different forms of art fx figures, paintings, sculptures and light installations. Otherwise we all ate our last italian lunch and enjoyed the beautiful surroundings. The boys of our class had other interests in mind when it came to venice. We were more focused on food so we decided to seek out a very nice restaurant where we ate a nice traditional italian meal. We then decided to wander around venice in search of some nice photos and churches while getting lost in the proces. We eventually found a church where we spoke to a priest who explained some information about the church in italien which we tried to understand. The weather cleared up a bit later in the day and we enjoyed each other's company while exploring venice's many canals and landmarks. We rounded of the day in venice with a nice beer in a little cafe where we enjoyed the atmosphere and free wifi. After a long but great day we went to have dinner with our italiens and the greek exchange students, whom we’re also visiting Padua.

Day 2 - sunday, march 6th

Sunday, march 6th

Today was our second day in Padova. All students ate breakfast with their host families before some of us headed to Verona to spend the day there. A typical breakfast in Italy usually consists of muffins, biscuits or other kinds of dessert and is therefore very different from what we typically eat for breakfast in Denmark.
After breakfast most of our class traveled to Verona where we split up in smaller groups. The weather was lovely and the sun was warming our cheeks while we ate lunch outside.

In Verona we also found time to be a little cultural and we visited a big church called Bassilica di San Zeno Maggiore with a 72 meter high bell tower. From the top of the bell tower you had an amazing view over Verona which looked beautiful in the spring weather.
Some of us also got to visit the house of Romeo and Juliet. In the yard there was a big statue of Juliet and it is apparently tradition to touch the breasts of Juliet and of course we all had to get a picture where we were touching the breasts of Juliet.

We also visited the local roman arena, which looked a lot like Colosseum in Rome. Then we had 2 hours left to go shopping, which us girls were very excited about. At 6pm we had to take the train back home to Padova and most of us ate dinner at home with our Italian family.
Overall we had a great day with both our host families and with our classmates!

Thursday, March 10th

Everything must come to an end and so does our whole journey in Italy. The last day began like all the others except today we had to say goodbye to our host families for good.

After saying goodbye we all had to meet at the school at 8 o’clock because the Italians had to attend their classes. Fortunately for us Danes the sun was finally shining and therefore people were showing off their sunglasses. Sunshine made it a lot easier to kill the two hours we had before heading to the airport. Some of the class went to the center of Padua to say goodbye and some went to a café near the school.

When the bus finally came, we said goodbye to our Italian partners and ran straight to the bus. Half an hour later we arrived at the airport and we were all ready to come back home. After getting some food and waiting for our flight to board it was finally our time to get on the first flight out of two. We were now one step closer to Denmark, our warm beds and of course our families. An hour and a half went by and we arrived to Frankfurt where we had a lot of time until the flight to Copenhagen. When we arrived in Copenhagen we went to claim our baggage and then we parted after a lovely trip.

Day 1

Day 1 (6th of March)

Finally, the day had come! We were going to Padua to meet our exchange students. We had to be at the airport at 5 am, so we were all very tired, but the excitement about trip made it a little easier.

We arrived in Padua around 10 am. Unfortunately, it was cold and rainy when we arrived, so we hurried to our bus. It took about half an hour before arriving at the school of our exchange partners in Padua. All of us were very excited and also a bit nervous about meeting our partners, because we didn't know what to expect. When we finally arrived at the school, we went inside and waited for our Itallian partners who were just about to finish their last lesson. When we found our partners, we wished each other good luck before going home to our host families.  At "home" we each had an big italian lunch that included 3 or 4 courses of food for the most of us.

We spent the whole day with our Italian partners who had made plans for the day. Some of them had arranged something in groups or pairs. Most of those who lived close to Padua went shopping or sightseeing. Others went to a galleries, coffee places or churches and some to a place called Castel Franco.

Afterwards many of the pairs went to a volleyball watch where two teams from the school were playing. The match ended around 10 pm and afterwards we went to have pizza all together. After being at the restuarant for some time most of us were tirred after a long day so we went home with our Itallian partners - looking forward to the next day.

Monday, March the 7.

Monday, March the 7.
Monday we went to school with each of our Italian partners at 8 o´clock. We participated in their lessons, which was a very different experience compared to the Danish school. The classes seemed old fashioned, because they don’t use technology as much as we do. Afterwards we went on a treasure hunt around Padua in mixed groups, and saw the most famous sights in the city. The city has many qualities for instance the flower markets, shops and ancient roman architecture that creates a unique atmosphere. We had a guided tour at the Galileo´s anatomical theatre. The theatre showed how people used to study the anatomy. A corps was displayed in the middle and the students were standing on different levels around the corps. They had to study the anatomy in secret, and often had to steal bodies at the cemetery. In the evening we had dinner at the school. Our host families brought Italian specialties, and we ended the day in a good mood looking forward to the next day.
